Miguel Rodriguez is a partner at Taylor Dunham. He was recognized by Texas Monthly Magazine as a Texas Rising Star among attorneys in the state.
Mr. Rodriguez represents clients in general litigation matters, including reported cases from the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in which his client ultimately prevailed. He has successfully defended high value intellectual property litigation cases and employment litigation cases, including a lawsuit by a former director of a corporation seeking more than $20 million in damages.
Mr. Rodriguez has also served as class counsel in a federal class action lawsuit.
Representative Engagements
As lead counsel, briefed, argued and obtained a favorable opinion from the Texas Supreme Court on behalf of our client, the owner of multi-family apartments in a suit against its lender. As a result, our client obtained a favorable settlement from the lender. Myrad Properties, Inc. v. LaSalle Bank, National Association, 300 S.W.3d 746 (Tex. 2009).
Lead counsel for publicly traded Canadian-based company and its international subsidiaries in the defense of an $80 million fraudulent transfer suit by a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee. Obtained a final judgment of no liability for our clients after a two week trial. Ingalls v. SMTC Corp., et al., Adversary No. 06-1283, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Texas, Austin Division, reported at 2009 WL 2940161.
Represented publicly traded high-technology company in defense of suit by former director seeking $20 million; jury denied relief and awarded our client attorney’s fees. Forgent Networks, Inc. v. Monika Matthews as Independent Executor of the Estate of Gordon Matthews and Matthews Communication Systems, Inc.; Cause No. GN 300580; In the 261st Judicial District Court of Travis County, Texas.
Represented bankruptcy trustee of satellite cable company in suit against its lenders. Joseph D. Martinec, Chapter 11 Trustee of WSNet Holdings, Inc. v. Cerberus Capital Management LP, et al.; Cause No. GN 200604; In the 200th Judicial District Court of Travis County, Texas.
Represented bankruptcy trustee of internet company in suit against its former officers and directors. Suit settled confidentially. Marsha Milligan as Chapter 7 Trustee of Agillion, Inc. v. Stephen Papermaster, et al.; Cause No. GN 301239; In the 201st Judicial District Court of Travis County, Texas.
Represented semiconductor company in defense of multi-million dollar patent infringement lawsuit; suit settled favorably. Crystal Semiconductor Corp. v. SigmaTel, Inc.; Civil Action No. A-99-CA-558-SS; United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Represented clients in suits against corporate officers, directors and lenders.
Represented various businesses in collection of commercial accounts.
